I READ THE NEWS TODAY, OH BOY

Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones reveals that he and his bandmates will meet this month to discuss what, if any, future plans there will be for the legendary group. "We'll start talking to each other soon," reports the bassist, who also says, "It could be fun to do more stuff." Speaking about fun, Jones clearly had a blast at Zeppelin's Dec. 10 reunion gig. "The excitement was there onstage, as it was in the old days," he maintains.

The rumors about an impending new album from AC/DC are apparently not true, according to Australia's Undercover News. A spokesperson for the band's Australian label, Albert Records, denied reports that the band had nearly completed work on its first record since 2000 and was planning to issue it this spring. The spokesperson said, "If you ask me if they're in the studio today, I can tell you they're not. If you ask me if they were in the studio last week, I can tell you they're not. If you ask me if they're in the studio next week, I can tell you they're not. We're pretty hopeful, but unfortunately there is no word of an album at this stage."

The Doobie Brothers have hit the studio to work on some new tunes. The band is recording the material with Ted Templeman, who produced all of the Doobies' albums through 1980's One Step Closer

Paul McCartney is helping to organize the first major U.K. exhibition of photographs taken by his late wife, Linda, which will run from April 24 to June 7 at a London gallery. The retrospective collects images spanning more than 30 years of Linda's life, and includes portraits of her husband, John Lennon, Jim Morrison, Mick Jagger and Janis Joplin. "The photographs not only illustrate her incredible talent as an artist, but as someone who was very much connected to the culture of the times," says McCartney

The Martin Scorsese-directed Rolling Stones documentary/concert flick Shine a Light will get its world premiere Feb. 7 at Germany's Berlin International Film Festival. Both the band and Scorsese are slated to attend the screening, which will be the opening event at the fest. Meanwhile, expect a super-sized version of Shine a Light to debut in IMAX theaters around the same time as the movie's official U.S. release date -- April 4. The soundtrack to the Martin Scorsese-directed Rolling Stones concert flick Shine a Light is expected to be issued in March. The band has signed a one-off agreement with Universal Music Group to release the album, rather than put out the disc via longtime label Virgin/EMI. The decision has fueled speculation that the Stones will leave EMI when their contract expires in May.

The episode of ABC's Ugly Betty featuring a guest appearance by Kiss bassist-singer Gene Simmons will premiere Jan. 24 at 8 p.m.

There are several new custom model Gibson guitars coming out including a series of instruments designed to look like axes made iconic by such famed guitarists as Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, Rush's Alex Lifeson, Foreigner's Mick Jones, Slash and Johnny Winter.

The corporation that oversees Jimi Hendrix's music has issued a warning to Fuego Entertainment over rare live recordings to which the latter company claims to have secured North American rights. Experience Hendrix alleges that the cited Hendrix performances are "inferior quality" bootlegs that apparently were previously marketed illegally by U.K. label Purple Haze Records. "[We] will take all legal action necessary to remove this bootleg material from the market and recover damages against Fuego Entertainment and associated parties for infringement," reads a statement from Experience Hendrix.

Carlos Santana makes an appearance on SSB, the upcoming debut album from his son's group, the Salvador Santana Band. Carlos lends his guitar skills to one track, "Me & U,"
